Our Team

Our Doctors of Physical Therapy have extensive training and experience helping patients improve their lives with individualized physical therapy plans. They can evaluate potential deficiencies in your physical movement to diagnose your issues and find the right exercises and therapies for your body. We believe in providing the tools and education our patients need to overcome their ailments and enjoy life to the fullest by caring for their bodies. In addition to the therapy we walk you through at our clinic, we will also provide at-home exercises and stretches you can do to further speed your recovery and results.

Louie Labial, PT, DPT.
Clinic Director

Louie was born in Butuan City, Philippines and emigrated to the US when he was 10 years old. Growing up, Louie was always highly interested in how the body works and in sports. These two passions spurred him to pursue a career in physical therapy. He received his undergraduate degree in Allied Health at Azusa Pacific University and went on to continue his education there to obtain his Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree in 2006. Louie is fascinated with the complexity of the body’s biomechanics and is passionate about educating others on restoring & maximizing their function and mobility. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Azusa Pacific University focusing on Human Anatomy for 9 years and is an active Clinical Instructor for PT students in pursuit of higher understanding of the human body. Outside of the clinic, Louie enjoys spending time with his family and church community. He also enjoys watching sports and various types of movies & shows.

Mitchelle Arvizu, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Mitchelle received her Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine with a Coaching Minor from Pepperdine University in 2010. She went to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2015 with an emphasis on manual therapy. Most of her experience is in the outpatient sports and post-surgical orthopedic setting. She has certifications in Corrective Exercise Specialization (CES) and Fitness Nutrition Specialization (FNS) through National Academy of Sports Medicine. She is currently working on becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is passionate about helping patient’s reach their goals by addressing the entire patient and challenge them to succeed in all aspects of their health. Outside of Physical Therapy, Mitchelle enjoys playing soccer, being outdoors, traveling, backpacking, hiking, and snowboarding.

Madeline Cowan, PT, DPT

Madeline completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (Go Bruins!). She then obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco State University. Madeline is passionate about partnering with individuals of all ages and activity levels as they pursue their mobility and activity goals. Having been on the patient-side of physical therapy both as a high school competitive cheerleader and as an adult hiker, Madeline hopes to incorporate empathy, communication, and teamwork in the treatment process so that every patient feels that they take an active role in their physical therapy journey. Outside of the clinic, Madeline loves talking about the LA Dodgers and LA Rams, hiking and backpacking (especially in Yosemite), and birdwatching every chance she gets.

Jesse Mellema, PT, DPT

Jesse, a Huntington Beach native, completed his undergraduate studies in Exercise Science at Golden West College and California State University, Long Beach. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. Jesse is deeply passionate about connecting with people in meaningful ways, regardless of the setting. With a background in roles centered on interpersonal connection, he has a strong commitment to meeting individuals where they are and helping them navigate their journey to recovery. Understanding that pain can be complex and overwhelming, Jesse strives to be a source of hope, healing, and freedom for his patients. Outside of work, Jesse enjoys backpacking, skiing, weightlifting, and spending quality time with his friends, family, church community, and nature.

Selena South, PTA

Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant

Selena South is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who earned her PTA degree from American Career College in Anaheim, officially obtaining her license in October. As a Cypress native and lifelong softball player, Selena developed a deep appreciation for movement, recovery, and athletic performance, ultimately inspiring her to pursue a career in physical therapy. She is especially passionate about orthopedic and sports-related rehabilitation, where she enjoys supporting patients as they rebuild strength, improve mobility, and return to the activities they love. Outside of the clinic, Selena loves cooking, cheering on the Dodgers, and spending time with her three dogs, a Doberman, a Corgi, and a German Shepherd.

As a new graduate, Selena enters the field with fresh knowledge, genuine passion, and a strong drive to grow as a clinician. She is excited to continue expanding her skills, learning from experienced team members, and bringing her enthusiasm and dedication to every patient’s recovery journey.
